Mild amphoteric surfactants such as cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB), sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI), and decyl glucoside are widely used in veterinarian-formulated pet shampoos. They provide effective cleansing without stripping coat oils or causing skin irritation. Avoid high concentrations of sulfates and never use surfactants containing ingredients toxic to cats, such as tea tree oil above 0.1%.
